Project: ICEHOTEL 3 /Solid Flow Suite (2013/14)

Description: An interior design for room 317 of the ICEHOTEL, an exclusive art exhibition & hotel made entirely of snow an ice some 200 Km above the Arctic Circle in Kiruna Sweden.

Working together with the designer Jens Dyvik, in our participation of the ICE HOTEL for the third time, our idea for the suite design drew its inspiration from the material experience of ice, the forces of nature and gravity, and the ephemeral essence of the Icehotel. We therefore decided to work with strict geometrical forms which through the time and natural forces that effect the construction and condition of the hotel itself will slowly deform, twist and warp back into organic elements with each passing day.

This offred a substantially playful & ever changing experience for the ice hotel where the effect of nature on the hotel could be seen & measured by the eye of the visitors. The suite has installation of delicate ice bar/pillar constructions (which now deforms slowly as the roof of the Icehotel sinks down during the season), 2 cascades, or platforms, of cubical Iceblocks forming a path leading visitors (safely) to the bed.
